Re: Champ Car, IRL In Talks for Open-Wheel Merger

hmm i wonder if theres any truth to that. i just read an article in R&T like a week ago about how champ car was starting to do better. it might be for the best of the sport though.

on another note, i HIGHLY doubt they will have a hard time finding 33 starters for the 500. and if they do, maybe it will finally be a wakeup call for those two to merge, and maybe some drivers around the world will work harder to race in indy just so the race doesnt go to hell.

ya, Honda dropped the price of an engine lease for the race to only $120000, makes it fairly easy to turn a profit on the race assuming you already own a chassis and can find some sort of sponsorship.

hmm i wonder where i can find a chassis... lol

kinda sucks that honda took over all the teams engines though. i like the competition, even though im a ford guy and they are only in champ car. oh well atleast this way i might not here all the chevy crap they used to do at the 500 when i go.

Kevin Kalkhoven at the 90th Indy 500

The following quote is taken from
this Champ Car article

Champ Car co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven was Indy Racing League founder Tony George's guest at the 90th Indianapolis 500 but it was all social and no business.

"I had a very good time, it was a great race and Tony was a very gracious host," said Kalkhoven, who got up at 4 p.m. in his San Jose home, flew to Indy and then jetted right back to California after the race.

Kalkhoven, who has been meeting with George for the past four months about unifying open wheel racing, had not been to the Indy 500 since Graham Hill's victory in 1966.
