Has anyone heard of this happening before?

A friend just told me she and her husband are considering buying a van that has "issues" for $500.00.
She said it has a brand new engine, but no back seats.
The reason:

The owner of the van told his employee to take the van to the dump and discard everything in the back of the van.
He took him literally and threw the van seats in the dump with everything else!!!! I guess everything means EVERYTHING to some people!

I forgot about this post and what my friend said. I'll have to ask her if they bought the van!

They didn't buy the van, it was falling apart and the door wouldn't close.

Even 'smart' people can do this.

One of mu cars (Pontiac Bonneville) was stolen from in front of my house. The police recovered it a few hours later. It turned out the theives were using it to move a quantity of stolen items.

So the trunk was full of stolen merchendise when the cops got it. They called me and asked if I had anything in the trunk. I said 'no'. (True).

So the bright cops took all items from the trunk to store as evidence, including my factory car jack, lug wrench and locking lugnut key!!!

I guess I should be lucky they did not seize the spare tire and trunk carpet as 'stolen' items, too

Were they those smart Canadian mounted police on horseback?

If so, I guess if they were only used to whats on the back of a horse, not whats in the trunk of a vehicle, them might have an excuse!

Did you ever get your jack and tools back?

Who knows, maybe the theives had simply stolen a load of car jacks and the cops could not tell the difference!

I did not bother to track down the items. Too much time and trouble.

The factory jack was no longer safe to use anyways, due to rocker panel rust on the car. (that's where the jack lifts the car). I just packed a bottle jack, which could be used on the car's wheel control arms. instead.

I have lots of lug wrenches, too. I just used another one. And I removed the 4 locking lugnuts (easy to do even without the key) and substituted ordinary ones.
