I thought GTO was the Japanese name was for the 3000gt. I thought the VR4 and SL were still the trim lines to it.

Edit: Can't find anything real helpful one way or the other on google. I'll ask Miho the next time I get a chance - she's from Japan and can probably answer the question.

i believe that is the case. also i *think* i remember people saying that the SL's or at least some of them were also AWD over there. can't remember exactly though.

ATX = automatic transmition
GTO = gran turismo omologato (sp?) this is some italian phrase.

nesryn- go buy a vr-4!!!

ok, ok, just put a vr-4 engine in your SL

ok, first off, ATX stands for automatic transmission as previously stated above

as for GTO, thats what the 3000GT is called in japan, they made 3 models of the GTO, the SR, TT, and MR
All 3 models are AWD
the SR is a N/A 222 hp equivalent to our SL but with AWD
the TT is the same as a VR-4
the MR is a TT that weighs less, and from what i understand, might be mid-engined?? but not sure on that one, but it is better performance than the TT
All GTO TTs come stock with no precats or cats, and with 13g turbos, i hear they run mid 12s stock

I dont think i'll post my picture, i'll probably get shown up too much

Re: Lets see some pics!

I also heard the Japanese versions had 13g turbos, but I was under the impression that due to the gentlemens agreement, the boost was turned down on GTOs to under 280hp or something. Anyone know for sure?

i did not know about the model names SR and TT but i know a few things about them and the MR.

first, i think the MR was the fastest of all of the special edition japonese supercars there are a bunch of videos of it floating around running mid 12's stock.

i have heard that the japonese cars came with 13G's stock too and i used to say that but then several times on 3si i was told by some people who knew a lot more than me that this was not the case. it was a sport upgrade that was very common and maybe a few of them in europe had them or something but i think that maybe no stock 3/S/GTO came with them. maybe the MR's, not sure. i will try to dig up the info and start a new thread about this because it is interesting but we are cluttering up this thread with this side topic a bit.

edit: here is a link to a GTO thread as to keep this one OT:

Beautiful Joe! I really like how she looks with the clear corner lenses.

Edit: Its funny - I can see the picture when I quote your post, but it shows as a red x otherwise. Strange.
