Blinkers turn off Daytime driving lights
Just noticed this the other day while I was driving behind a gas truck and could see the reflection of my beautiful 1999 Bravada, when I put on the turn signals (either left or right) my day time driving light would go out and remain off until the blinker was turned off. Is this normal or not? First time I have noticed it.
At night when the headlights are turned on, they remain on - that would be real bad if they went off every time I turned on the signals. |

Yes this is normal. The DRLs go off when your turn signal goes on so that the turn signal will be more noticable.

Re: Blinkers turn off Daytime driving lights
Thanks for the fast answer, I can't believe that I have not noticed it before now. After all these years you think you would know your vehicle and then SMACK - something new...

It also has the anoting side affect that some drivers will think you're flashing them. The DRL bulbs can be safely removed if it's annoying you, the head lamps are seperate

Pretty certain the daytime running lights run off the high beam bulbs at about 80% power. Never heard of them having a seperate bulb nor can I find a seperate bulb for it.
