Rover 10

The Rover 10 was launched at the London Motor Show at Earls Court on this day 82 years ago (12 Oct 1933). The car was conventional with leaf spring suspension all round, half elliptic at the front and quarter elliptic at the rear with rigid axles. The four cylinder, overhead valve engine had a capacity of 1185 cc and had at initially a magneto ignition. Drive was to the rear wheels through a three speed gearbox. The magneto was replaced by coil ignition in 1929. In order to keep weight down many of the cars had fabric bodies using the Weymann system. In 1929 the car was available as either the Riviera saloon with fully opening roof at £250 or a Sportsman's Coupé at £269. Production of the `Rover 10 stopped in 1938 after just over 25,000 had been built. http://bit.ly/1VN9RJ0
