Re: WTF have I done...
damn I love this thread and those vids. Kev always impressive. Elite class in the 8's that's for sure only a handful of dsm'ers there. I love the sound but as mentioned the back does look so jacked up but I suppose you gotta do what you gotta do. Great vids!

Re: WTF have I done...
Thanks! As far as the car looking like a tractor puller, those days are almost over. Despite only having about 6 runs on these 500 dollar slicks (ouch), I'm ordering new ones today. If I drop down to some 10.5Ws I should be able to lower the back of the car, hopefully pretty far.

Re: WTF have I done...
Ouch going fast gets expensive! Actually now that i think of that its an undersatement more like going RREALLY FAST gets expensive. Oh well I still remember when that guy crossed over and you missed him by a hair I suppose that would have been the worst possible thing to happen to you so everything passed that is just a bonus, Right haha ???

Re: WTF have I done...
Yeah, buying new slicks is a lot more fun than trying to get another chassis built.
I got the tires mounted and installed yesterday, dropped the shock mounts to the lowest hole, and the car is almost level. About 1.5 inches of rake at the rocker panel. What's interesting is that my entire driveline angle is now zero degrees. Crankshaft, driveshaft, and pinion are all on the same exact line, 0 degrees. The car must have been built for this ride height.

Re: WTF have I done...
That's perfect! that will minimise driveline power loss!!! I see a sub 8.5 in the near future!

Re: WTF have I done...
Man, I hope so. The car is really making me work for the last few tenths. I should have dropped the pinion another degree but I didn't want to take the time until I know if I'm even staying with this ladder bar hole. I'm in the lowest one and might have to raise it up to hit the tire a little more, we'll see after I run it. Even if the 60 doesn't improve the 300 or eighth should tell me if it's doing better overall.

Re: WTF have I done...
Going back Wednesday, but I haven't found anyone to film yet. Which sucks mostly because it's the only way I can see what the suspension is doing after the changes. Hopefully I can find someone...

Re: WTF have I done...
I did! Mike Rizzotti came by to help me out. The first pass I had the 2 step set to 4000 rpm by accident, not much to see there. Second pass left at 6000 rpm and 32 psi, but it's just another 8.81 at 157 on another 1.34 short time. Dammit. Trans was acting up so I called the builder, we tried a band adjustment but didn't like what we saw, so he told me to pack it up and get the trans back to him for inspection. I'm pulling it today if I ever get off the internets and go do some work.

Thats awesome kevin. Sucks that the tranny is acting up but thats just how it goes sometimes. At least the guy is standing behind his product.

Re: WTF have I done...
Yeah, he's one of the good guys. I brought it by around 4:30 and they had it done (while I watched) by 6. Found the low gear servo piston bound up. Shot the shit for an hour and headed home with it. I went to dump the old fluid from the converter before installing it to test it (he wanted me to test it tonight so if it still had issues we have time to open it up again before the race saturday ), and silver soup came out. Since the inside of the trans is in great shape the converter must be shitting itself. It's possible debris from that got into the servo and caused the whole problem in the first place. Oh well. Dropping off the converter tomorrow in CT (4 hr round trip, wtf) so I can get it all back together Thursday.
I guess the good news is that the car was going 8.8x's on a hurt trans and converter, maybe it will finally be fast!
