2001-2007 Chrysler town and country 3.8LV6 o2 Sensor Diagnosis and Replacement

2001-2007 Chrysler town and country 3.8LV6 o2 Sensor Diagnosis and Replacement
2001-2007 Dodge Caravan 3.8LV6
2001-2003 Chrysler Voyager 3.8LV6

Tools:
Scan tool with Live Data function
Flathead Screw driver
7/8 sensor tool

Problem:
Check engine light displaying P0032 (O2 sensor 1/1 Heater circuit high)

Diagnosis:
Assuming the catalytic converter is ok (should'nt be excessively hotter then the rest of the exhaust or shouldnt make noise if shook) plug in your scan tool. Going into live data you want to check the values of the o2 sensors. If you can view graph mode they should be moving as the vehicle is running and should move more when the accelerator is pressed. They SHOULD NOT be flat lined. If you do not have a viewable graph the numbers should change and not stay the same. If the scantool test did not pass for a good sensor, check the sensor itself. It should be clean, the connection should be clean and well connected. Oil, excessive heat, or damage from debris can cause o2 sensor failure.

Sensor Replacement:

How o2 sensors are located 1/1 (bank 1/sensor 1) would be the closest to the motor. Sensor 1/2 would be the next one down.
1/1
Unplug the sensor by following the wire to the left side of the motor. The sensor can be reached from under the hood. Once unplugged put your tool on the sensor. Raise the vehicle to a desired height. Loosen the sensor and remove it without stripping. I found it easier to reach up from under but it can be done from either uptop or under the car.
2/2
Unplug the sensor following the wire close to the motor to the center left. Put your tool on the sensor and carefully remove.
