Re: WTF have I done...

I read your thread, that shit is crazy. You've got 3 and a half months to get that back together! I think it was 2006 a local hardcore DSMer picked his bare block up at the machine shop on his way to the shoutout and built it in the hotel parkinglot, and ran 11.1 with it in DSE. Gitter done and get your ass out there so we can hang out. I'm always at the Econolodge down at the far end.

I should have some results on Sunday, and some vids.

Re: WTF have I done...

Very impressive and jealous. That's awesome with the build at the shootout too.

Re: WTF have I done...

Yeah, that was unreal. There was a video somewhere, not sure if that's still around or not.

I got the 35R installed last night and it does spool up on the auto, so we'll see what happens tonight/Sunday.

Re: WTF have I done...

I remember seeing the video your referring too. Was from a while ago. The amount of mechanical work that takes place in the hotel parking lots is unreal. From the videos I've seen, guys are changing trannies, engines, t-cases, and every other thing they can possibly change to get back out on the track.

When is the shootout? I may be DSM-less but I would love to come meet all you guys and see some sweet as cars hit the track.

Re: WTF have I done...

Do it! It's in August, the weekend of the 18th or so.

I ended up running the 35R friday, first pass off the trailer was a 9.25 at 147, second run 9.14 at 150, which I believe is the new record.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjuFy...ature=youtu.be

Today the first run off the trailer was a 9.25 at 148 (warmer tems) to qualify #2. For some reason they paired me up with the #1 qualifier (event was a shitshow), but a little more boost and higher 2 step/3 step rpms got reset the record and I believe beat the 35 HTA record too, 8.89 at 152. The turbo was slower spooling in the heat but bumping in on the 3 step I was able to tree the other car and leave with 36 lbs of boost.

Re: WTF have I done...

I think he's gone 7.70s. I'm just glad he went straight, and was glad he picked the right lane (usually my favorite by far) so I could keep an eye on him. I was ready for him to play pin ball between the walls, but he waited until the next round to do that. Glad he kept it off the wall, but I'm glad I wasn't racing him on that pass. On the run in the video his chute wrapped around the wheelie bars, THAT would have been disastrous too if it caught the air. Could have flipped the car right over. I could see the pucker factor on his face when we were packing up our chutes after the run.

The car did great though. I bumped in under boost and had full boost early, backed it down on the 3 step when he tried to bump in slow to overheat my trans, then had full boost back before the green. Left at 6k rpm and 36 psi, 1.29 60 foot, 122+ in the eighth at 5.67 or so, etc. A good slip all the way down, can't complain.

Re: WTF have I done...

More belated updates. The Shootout was a shit show, but this happened:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vc13V...ure=plpp_video

And then the following week this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWDwy...ure=plpp_video

That run set the DSM 6766 record, but obviously hurt the motor. The off the shelf JE pistons had enough I guess.

Now it's back to the MightyMax. Trying to get that in the 11s today.
