Re: Removing Pine sap

I've found that pine-based Simple Green cleaner does a good job of removing tree sap, even if it is old and hard. Not sure how easy it'll be for fresh sap, but likely easier than if it is aged and hard. Apply, let it sit for a few minutes, then rub with a paper towel. Repeat as necessary...could take 3-4 repeats for old sap, but it does work...used this for my Envoy that got puked on by a pine tree then got baked on as I tried everything else, even Goo Gone wouldn't work. Good luck!

wd-40 and most other lubricants won't hurt the paint...alcohol will damage the paint....also any acid cleaners...

I have used wd-40 as well as mineral spirits to clean paint with road tar and sap ...you must let the product do the work or the dirt imbedded in the goo will scatch the finish..gently work into the contaminated area..

Re: Removing Pine sap

To help soak non-horizontal surfaces, I saturated a paper towel and laid it over the sap to let it soak in first and work before rubbing it out.

Re: Removing Pine sap

I have used nail polish remover but it is acetone based. Not a whole lot in it though but if you are real touchy about the finish....

Re: Removing Pine sap

Alcohol will take it right off in a couple of swipes and it will not hurt the finish at all. Denatured or rubbing, it doesn't matter.

Re: Removing Pine sap

The mod in me says this part should be moved to its own thread...the title is removing pine sap, not concrete.
