The 360 modena is 250k below the S7, unless you talk about the 360 CS which is about 200k less. The Enzo is about 250k above the S7's price, so unfortunately no real comparison based on price can be made between the S7 and any ferrari.
sort of off topic but why the hell did jaguar put a 5 speed in one of their best & fastest supercars

Re: Saleen S7 Top Speed!

if you're talking about the XJ220, maybe because they put a six cylinder engine in it. It was not a very well designed car. Then again, Jaguar doesn't do supercar I guess.

I can't be sure, i never drove it but i belive the sledgehammer was a callaway creation and hit almost 250mph but it had an emmisions problem and could've never been put on the market at that speed at the time.

Re: Saleen S7 Top Speed!

Many compare the McLaren F1 to the S7, but if you look at the facts and the specs, it makes sense that the F1 is faster; but is it better? I would say no.

The F1 was a million-dollar car created only to set records. The car had no power breaks, or even power steering. Everything that added weight was cut.

The new second generation S7 is a true exotic. With power everything and luxuries you would expect. Going 0-60 in only 2.8; It takes the F1 3.2
The S7 does the quarter mile in 10.7 sec @ 136 mph. The F1 is 11.1 sec @ 135 mph
The S7 also out handles it by far, making it a better racecar and exotic (It looks way better)

The F1 isn’t even the fast’s production car anymore.

The 2004 Koenigsegg CCR has a confirmed top speed of over 241 (new Guinness world records). Making it the new leader, but I bet even the Chrysler 4-12 Me will go faster.

The F1 is out of date. But I love the new S7 more than any car out there. American pride.

You're making a wrong coclusion here! The fact that it was a lightweight supercar with no power steering/brakes/etc had to do with the pure driving feeling they were aiming for AND CERTAINLY NOT with their aim to break any records which THEY NEVER set out to do when the car was on the design stage.

Looks are subjective. Many people me included find the McLaren gorgeous. And no I wouldn't expect any luxuries with a true exotic sportscar. Sportscars have other values. And that 2.8 0-60 time is ridiculous don't tell me you found it on supercars.net!!!

About the Koenigsegg CCR it's true. But the Chrysler ME4-12??? You CAN tell the difference between a real car and a concept I believe?

Re: Saleen S7 Top Speed!

The ME-412 is going nowhere, the project was cancelled a few months ago. The only upcoming prodction car that has any chance of topping the Koenigsegg is the Bugatti Veyron.

Where is the proof that the S7 outhandles an F1? The F1 was built by a company that specialised in F1 racing, the S7 was built by a guy that liked making Mustangs go fast. While the F1 has been reported as a handful at the limit if you're a rubbish driver, it was still the handling benchmark until the Zonda, CGT and Enzo came along.

If everything that added weight was cut, then how do you explain the gold lining of the engine bay, or the CD Audio system, or the 3 seats (As opposed to the S7's 2)

The S7 is good, but still behind the F1.

Re: Re: Saleen S7 Top Speed!

The S7 pulled more lateral G's then the F1 did. And it has all the common an luxury amenedies that you would want in a Fourhundred thousand dollar supercar. Take those extra features out an you got an evenmore insane supercar. The only thing the F1 has over the S7 is weigh an a center seat. The S7 also has a great advantage over the F1 by putting more torque then horse down. The o4 was putting 575 to the pavement an 580 lbs Torque.

As if Steve Saleen doesn't know what he's doing?

1988 Saleen Mustangs finished 1-2-3 at the 24 Hours of Mosport.

A Saleen S7R won the GTS class in the 2001 12 Hours of Sebring.

Unlike most supercars, the S7R has already proven itself on the international motor sports stage. The Saleen S7R has won nearly 40 races around the world.

Re: Saleen S7 Top Speed!

hey ive known about the s7 for some time and watched a documentary on the car and im certain that it will go beyond 200 mph. First this car weighs around 2700 and has a 7.0 v8 with 550hp and 525 lbs ft or torque so unless the car is geared for low 200 mph speed it should be capable of at least 215 but i would have to drive it to find out lol.

We havnt talked about the twin turbo either 750hp or 1000 depending on package so i could make a essay on this car if i wish but it should be able to reach 215-220.
