Any possible explainations?

Thanks.

Re: What caused this rust?

Rock chips from other cars flinging road sh*t at it?

Is it everywhere, or just on that fender?

I'd have to agree. It looks as though whatever hit the vehicle, hit it at a high rate of speed, penetrating the paint, and compromised the primer underneath. From there it was only a matter of time before moisture and the elements caused rust to form.

Re: What caused this rust?

A big cas of rust is parking in the grass or on gravel. the water vapor goes right up to your undercarriage(sp) and rusts it away. park on pavement if possible.
