Question Chicago Service/Garage Other Than Dealer

Any tips? Probably need to do rear brakes, maybe some belts for a 2000 3-series. I've had some horrifying dealer experiences... Thanks for any and all help. I live in Chicago on the north side near Wrigley. Best, Erik

call roger (owner) at auto plus of chicago, 4460 n. elston (n of montrose). the number is 773-794-0112. he's a good guy, honest & up-front. a rarity for an auto mechanic!

yeh, i drive an '88 325i convertible.

he did quite a bit of work on my exhaust, plus plugs, air filter, etc. before i moved to chicago, my old mechanic made some calls to help me out. roger came highly recommended.

i'll need to have some brake work done soon. i won't hesitate to go back to him.

Does he have his own garage or does he work out of his garage, so to speak? I need rear brake work done, at least that what the dealer says. They want $445 for the pads, sensor and rotors. Sounds pricey to me, but what do I know. I was driving a Chev. Corsica before this!

he's got a real garage with a waiting area and all. it's a small place, but definitely legit. not sure about pricing, but you could always try to get parts through some of the online suppliers mentioned in other segments of this forum. (i got a new muffler on ebay and a cat converter through bavarian autosport @ bavauto.com.)

i used to drive a saturn, so i know what you mean about the $$. the best place to go and get ripped-off is the dealer, or so they say. you should give roger a call.
