'90 accord handles poor

I'd like to keep my accord as long as i can because it seems like it wants to run forever. However, it handles like crap, probably because it's an LX. What can i do to improve my car's handling without spending too much money. I don't love this car that much anyway. I'm tired of being embarassed by my friend's vw scirocco 16v which is the best handling car i've experienced.

Quality struts/springs - lowering
Good tires
Larger rear sway that front
Upgraded suspension bushings
