Losing Engine Oil
Hello:
My Grandson recently purchased a 1999 Isuze Amigo (V-6) he had the oil changed shortly thereafter, and the car hasn't been driven very much at all but I have put 3.5 quarts of oil in it. Car has 132,000 miles and it does not smoke nor show any indication of it leaking. I looked through the owner manual but got no help there. It appears this vehicle does not have a PCV value on it or if it does it is not mentioned in the manual. Has anyone else had this type problem or have any ideas as to what the problem may be? Thank you in advance for any assistance. Regards, Ron my e-mail: ronnievest@embarqmail.com |

Re: Losing Engine Oil
Isuzus are notorious for oil consumption. I don't know how many miles were driven but 3.5 quarts is excessive. I don't know what oil you are using but next oil change try Rotella T or some other diesel service oil. I've owned 3 Troopers, still have 2 of them. I only use a good diesel rated oil.(Rotella, Delvac, etc) My 89 Trooper has 237,000 miles on it and the 98 Acura SLX (Isuzu Trooper) has 245,000 miles on it. both still run great. Being located where you are, you can go ahead and run a straight 30 weight or even up to a 50 weight. It doesn't get that cold down here.
