Nissan 400R
Just getting a very rough start.
Been hanging on to this SAS kit for a number of years, and finally decided it was time. Hoping to have more updates as things progress..... Matt |

Re: Nissan 400R
Not sure on the color yet.... I like all the ones I have seen.
Just about ready to start smoothing everything in with putty. Hopefully more progress pictures soon. (once it looks like progress has been made!) |

Chris do you happen to have any mines skyline kits left? Matt let me know if you need some reference pics of the 400r as i built one a few years back and have a ton of pics on my hd. Good luck.
Ps If you need the decals, here they are http://www.scale-auto-style.com/decal_transkit.php |

Re: Nissan 400R
Thanks, but I have a nice fresh set of the decasls I bought at the same time as the kit, YEARS back.
On a side note, I already did the MINE's version, and it came out great. But I used the decals, hopefully Chris can help you out. |

Re: Nissan 400R
No I have no Mines kits, have you tried Sebastien who runs SAS now?
I don't think I have ever seen pics of the SAS Mines kit built, so if you have some post them up.

Re: Nissan 400R
Been longer than I realized, but finally got a little work done.
Lots of putty to get everything smoothed in and a coat of primer. Let that dry (couple of weeks before I got back to it) and then added a couple of coats of red. But discovered a small little problem with the paint. Looks like the primer and paint didn't play well together. Just finished smoothing that out, and now in clear. So a little polishing when hard, then decals, and on to the rest of the kit. Got some of the chassis started, and the interior is at least base colored for now.

Re: Nissan 400R
Thats not good, are you going to strip it? If you are be careful on what you use because certain stripping methods ruin the resin (make it very soft and brittle). Best thing to use is r93% rubbing alcohol. Good luck.

Re: Nissan 400R
I was able to sand it down for the most part, and then another 2 coats of color seemed to have taken care of it.
Currently waiting for the first coat of clear to gas out, and harden before I make final judgement, but it looks like it should be okay.
