i'll probably have to deal with it later on. at least i'll know where to look .when i push an "o" ring into a hole i coat it with mineral oil as it will let the "o" ring pop in easier.same if putting something over an "o" ring.

Rockwood, get yourself a tube of di-electric grease. It works very well for lubricating o-rings. I use it for just about every rubber o-ring to metal / plastic application I do (except A/C).

After replacing second o-ring on that tube , coolant was still leeking so I got mad and started taking things apart . I took upper intake off and I found leek from lower intake manifold, this is the second time allready . So I was changing it today and yesterday. Everything went O.K. and there is no leek so far. I went away from Dex-cool this time and I changed to Prestone long life ( green one). I think Dex -cool ruined the gasket ,also the LIM gasket that I bought is the new style . Thanks for your input .

airjer,that di-electric is good stuff i have a couple tubes.but mineral oil works great on rubber is keeps it soft and pliable ,and i use it on a/c "o" rings. 2000oldsilh, the ends of the intake gaskets are the weakest. and in the valleys where you use the rtv are most likely to leak. i got away from dex-cool in '05 when i did the first intake gaskets/head gaskets.and another thing that will crack the intake gaskets is backfiring.

If you really want to seal up the valley with some good RTV get the Grey stuff from Audi/Volkswagen. Its at least a 100 times better than any regular RTV!

i used some of the grey rtv i think it was like 10 bucks a tube and was plenty to do the end of both vallies with. cause if the rtv don't hold up you will be back in it before long.
