Front oil seal and Crank Positions sensor calibrate?
2012 Equinox LTZ 2.4l Ecotec. About 110K miles.
I am planning to replace front oil seal as it has slow leak. I have the seal and also the new crank pulley (balancer) bolt since it is Torque to Yield type. So two questions keeping me from diving right in. 1. I read in the service help manual on Autozone that the Crank Position Sensor needs recalibration after removing and replacing the crank pulley/harmonic balancer even if it is the same unit. Is this really necessary and if so can it be done without going to the dealer or other well equiped shop? I checked my mid grade OBD2 scan tool and don't seem to have that function. 2. Is a pulley/balancer holding tool available for loan from the normal parts stores? Is it something so specialized that a generic tool will not work for? For what it's worth the timing chain was replaced about 30K ago under warranty so I assume the seal would have been replaced at that time also but am not really sure. This was the same dealership mechanics that forget to replace the oil filter O-Ring Thanks |
