'95 Cirrus here we go again!

Please see "Fixed at last" and my other threads.

It's acting just as it did three months ago. Turn the key, it starts normally then dies after a couple of seconds!

If it runs at all, the distributor/coil must be functioning. Last time, these symptoms were relieved by an exchange/rebuilt Mopar computer; thank goodness I've got nine months of warranty on the replacement unit now in the car!

No sense towing it in on Christmas Eve. I did talk to the service writer. He suggested an intermittent short that is damaging the computer. Once every 90 days is VERY intermittent!

I said Im concerned they can't find it unless it happens to short out a good computer while they have the car hooked up, and he sadly agreed. I asked him to contact the Zone and Detroit to see if there are records of solutions to these symptoms.

Meanwhile, anyone have suggestions where to check?

Turned out to be an idle speed sensor. Only $260 at the dealer. Running great again and my fingers are crossed!

Re: '95 Cirrus here we go again!

Update: Now 19-year-old son totaled it into a dead-end road on a very foggy prom night! Not a hard enough hit to trigger the airbags, but he ran over a 3" cement-filled pipe that ended up stuck vertically in the engine compartment.

Dumb%$#*&^ tow truck driver pulled and pulled 'til he ripped the engine and trans up pretty good, oil and trans fluid everywhere. Insurance paid over $4000 for the 30,000-mile '95, but where can I find so much car for so little money?

Kid is off to his freshman year at UC Berkeley, where he doesn't need a car anyway.
