1996 Montero 4wd questions
My 18 yr old son bought a 96 Montero with no owners manual. The 4wd shifter has two high positions marked "4H" and "4HLc". What is the difference between them and can he drive in 4H on dry pavement like AWD?
Also there is a switch on the center console marked "A/T MODE", what does it do. |

Re: 1996 Montero 4wd questions
hi eric. has anyone sent you a pm on your queries?
anyway, i can't answer the 1st one since ours is 4x2, but the 2nd question's answer is this: PWR/power - shifts late mid position - normal shifting HOLD/hold - shifts early, usually for low traction situations hth, albeit belated.
