02 I-6 oil filter type and radiator cap?

I just bought the 02 XL with a 4.2 I-6 and in the owners manual I can only find the specs for the 6.6 8 cyl, P58 and 7 quarts of oil.

What oil filter does the 4.2 6 take? and how many quarts of oil does it take with filter changed?

Here is my stupid question for the day. When I try and remove the radiator cap it goes loose like it is coming off then re-tightens up, I was scared to keep twisting as I didn't want to break something. Whats the trick?

7 qts, the GM filter is P-61. Keep turning it and lift up at the same time, cold of course. Funny there is no 8 cyl. Envoy in 2002, sounds like the wrong year book?

May be a late owner's manual in contemplation of the 2003, as there is no listing for a 8 cylinder 2002 Envoy. But you have your info either way.

Re: 02 I-6 oil filter type and radiator cap?

It was my bad reading that read into 6.6L as a engine size instead of oil amounts. It is not 6.6 V-8 it meant 6.6L of oil = 7 qts. My bad on learning this vehicle.
Thanks for making me go re read it again.

Thought so, just didn't want to insult you, you're on your way.

Any idea whats going on with the rad cap?

Dont worry about insulting me, I would rather learn the vehicle and have the right info, then to understand what I read wrong.

Whats the difference in PF-58 and the P-61 oil filters?
The owners book shows a 58 and online parts order shows a 61 as you stated.

61 is an updated version, no more 58's, the rad cap is a pita just keep turn it counter clockwise and pull up at the same time, it is a tight fit.

Same here, my wife had a 92 S10, no comparison in ride and quality.

Re: 02 I-6 oil filter type and radiator cap?

I've got an '03 XL 4wd and compared to the '96 Jimmy 4x4 I had, the Envoy floats alot more. The suspension is very soft. But the wife likes it and I don't drive it, so I'm fine. Has decent pep though for a V6...actaully has more HP than the Jimmy's V6...just taller & heavier. Good truck though.
