theres usually a groove or notch that hold the end of the spring in place also the compression of the spring keeps it in place too sometimes called a seat for the spring also the upper bushing should have one too

Well when I jack the car up, the springs do move, but I thought they had to in order to raise/lower the ride height.

Got it all sorted out. All I had to do was put her on a lift, and put white lithium grease on the shocks. No more squeaks. Thanks :]
