That's a picture of Bobby Archer's V-8 Viper. The wonderful folks in the Trans Am series do not allow Archer to use a V-10. This is an example of the Vipers being regulated out of every racing series that they run in. In Le Mans and ALMS racing, they are penalized by reducing intake, reducing tire sizes and adding huge amounts of weight to Vipers. That's why the Dodge factory team pulled out.
The only way that Chevy was able to win was by going to a bored and striked 427 (which is not available on ANY Corvette) and crying about the Viper's dominance. After 3 consequetive Le mans, Daytona and Sebring wins (and 2 1/2 seasons undefeated in the ALMS) is was time for Dodge to get out. Just and FYI. Brad

No kidding about the V-8 in a Snake. But like all racing series that Vipers have played in, the regulators hate seeing cars as dominant as the Vipers have been. The remedy is to regulate them completely out of the series with stupid rules like this.
In Le Mans and ALMS, everyone thinks the C5-R's are hot poop. The reality is that the Goodwrench C5-R guys cried until the regulators basically choked off the Viper intakes, reduced tire patches dramatically, and put 500 pounds of snad in their trunks to make the playing field equal. The reduction to a V-8 is just another example of this kind of BS politics and political correctness gone awry. Brad
