New A Class Announced
Just after the launch of the BMW 1 series, Mercedes has begun to relase the figures, and indeed the production ready test modles to the media of the world.
As well as three diesels, theres a 95bhp A150 Petrol, the 115bhp A170 petrol and the 134bhp A200. There will also be an A200 Turbo expected to producce over 190bhp, and theres even talk of some proper AMG intervension this time around. Available in three and five door variants, it is said that the new A class can finally live up to the star on the bonnet. All in all, Merc have moved the modle more up-market, partly to distance it from sister firms new car, the Smart ForFour. It is now avialable with bi-xenon headlights, with the ability to look around corners, and theres also the DVD sat nav from the C and E classes. The new dash is verymuch Mercedes, unlike that of the old car, looking more like a cars dashboard, than a modified van, as was the case last time around. The interior is even more versatile than the old car, but still manages to surpass the quality of the outgiong car. It still not perfect, but its definatly worthy of that 3 pointed star. |
