Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

Nice present to yourself Greg.Mine came on xmas eve from Hong Kong.Check out this E-bay number for pictures-170422319919.Mclaren gtr-orange-open & close model. It's pretty good for the price. It's made by someone called Fline.Models that open usually cost three times this price. Its a brighter orange than my similar minichamps LM

Current list of mclarens is
13 Autobarn gtr's
24 Minichamps gtr's/F1
2 Minichamp world specials-red gtr -orange lm
3 Ixo gtr's
5 1:18 gtr's
1 1:12 f1 in red.

My budget has never stretched to a double Autobarn like yours!

LARK60 - NICE

I've seen those Fline models only recently, and hadn't known what they were like before opting for one. It looks good.

The WEST Autobarn set I got wasn't as expensive as you think, so I bought another to sell at a later date, #22/25, that was even cheaper, about the same as 1 Autobarn model for sale on a BUY IT NOW on eBay.com.

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

Today I had time to focus some scale model shoting.
My newest collects.

Minichamps 1/43 #01R

Minichamps 1/43 #05R (Love it!!!!! Fantastic livery!)

Minichaps 1/43 #24R

Nice to compare Minichamps to IXO's same #24R and #01R.
Differences and alot, Minichamps is missing that black aerodynamic wing on the front end of the car; all images of #24R number #42 shows that has been on the car that race, atleast Pre-Qualifying. IXO has it, Minichamps no.

Minichams #01R is much more detailled compared to IXO's. The night lights are missing, but the car looks more right than IXO's, everyway some reason. I don't put the images here, even some one wan't comparing?

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

Greg is going to have to spend even more money now.

Quote:
NEW 1/43 McLaren F1 LM‏ - available in Papaya Orange (as shown) or Silver, and has no less than 5 opening compartments, which seamlessly fit together in open or shut mode. This is quite impressive for a 3.5" long model. Each 1/43 scale model is hand assembled and made from resin with lovely paint and all opening parts. The model comes complete with case. My photos below do not do it justice.

Of course I am probably going to need to get one too... Orange or Silver though.

CollectorStudio.com has them available here for $195 US +shipping.

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

LARK60 bought one over the Christmas period - it looks OK; I haven't heard too much about them nor many reviews as to how good they are, and they are resin instead of diecast(?).......

PS it has to be orange!! I've seen orange, silver and red for sale.............

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

These Fline F1 GTR models look quite nice when they are closed but opening them reveals more of the errors they made with them. The engine bay is taken from the road car as GTRs did not have the exhausts built to have the crash structures and silencers of a road car (didn't need them). Also all the models seem to have the GTR'95 dual plane/split rear wing and it wasn't attached to the cars as on the model's rear engine cover but directly to chassis. It would have been better not to make the rear engine cover "open" at all if not done correctly with a removable cover as in real GTRs (or LMs). Also the front trunk is weird, like the makers had not seen any photos of a real car's front open, even a road car.

I think Fline did better job with other models they have made (Enzo, SLR, Reventon, Veyron, R8, etc.) and most of them are even much cheaper than the F1. So I'm not so thrilled about it at $199. Fline Reventon's go below $100 and Enzos around $130 so that range would be more suitable in my mind. On such price and the red one having the roof scoop like Nick Mason's 10R has I could maybe even consider buying one.

Re: The Definitive McLaren F1 Scale Model List.

IXO's has also that same fault, the air intake on the roof is not like it shoul be Nick Mason's GTR.

Why can't anyone make a good 1/43 model of the LM with at least all the exterior details correct??? There have been lots of even hi-res images of the LM3 floating around (thanks to some Frank also seen here on the forum!) to have the details. Closest to it was the Davis&Giovanni's (sold through Romu, Japan) version, only had 5 brake air vents on each side of the front instead of 3, had the gas tank hatch on both sides instead of only left and the protective shield around the exhaust pipes was in silver instead of carbon fiber looking black.

Yeah, maybe I'm just too demanding on the details.
