Ok so you pretty much know my life is in the deepest shit recently and i'm getting out slowly.

So with the loss of my house, my ex has implied that she will walk away and leave me the equity in the house. (losing about $150k but after debts there will be some cash)

So my dilemma. I might walk away with $100k.

Do i invest in property again (smart option but means I work hard still to afford living in Sydney)

Or do I drop $35k on a Ducati 1098s. My dream bike. or the Harley Nightrod, again a dream bike.

I am sorry to hear about your difficulties.

Place the money in a short term investment (bonds or some other money market instrument is good). See where the housing market is. In the last month, most Western nations have started to see a collapse in housing prices due to many reasons. You may be able to pick something up cheaper in a few months than you can right now.

Yeah, I know you wanted to start a fantasy/drool thread over the bikes, but IMO high priced, limited production machines are a marketer's ploy to separate you from your money. Really, are these bikes going to be that much more fun than what you have already??

Seriously, I rode a nightrod - really not what you are going to want/like. It's awkward in handling (HUGE ass rear tyre - see, I even translated for ya) and really doesn't have the pull I expected from a Vtwin. My SV650 pulls harder under 5k. The nightrod finally starts picking up around 4500rpm, but it redlines so damn early you really can't even keep it in the sweet spot. Beyond that, it's only a 5 speed, so you're missing out on topend. Did I mention that once you're over about 100km/h that the lack of fairing kicks in and your legs feel like they are going to be ripped off the (forward) pegs? Overall, if I HAD to own a Harley, it'd be one - but for the $ you could buy 2 bikes and ride on the track and the street. Just not worth it if you ask me.

The Duck is a hard-edged, expensive to maintain, not very dependable bike. The Nightrod may not curb your Hooligan S-curve impulses. Your Blade is a better all-around bike than either, and would serve you better in everyday riding. Get yourself another nice house, so you got a good place to park your bike.

I spend money like crazy, so I can't really give financial advice.
I would be thinking about buying both bikes, plus mods...

I've talked myself into a new bike since the Ex bought the Blade for me (allowed me to buy it for my 30th birthday)

I have looked hard at the Duke. I've always wanted one and now is the time. I have set myself a price i need to get for my house before i can get the duke. My Blade is still for sale and I will put the money towards a new bike.


If i can't get the duke, then a 08 Gixer 750 or thou is the repalcement weapon of choice. The blade will go. its time for an upgrade.

Also i have met a chick who can save me $2000 on ride away prices on the gixers and CBR1000RR so $18500 ride away for a liter bike. $36,000 for the Duke with the Termi's, PC and filter fitted.
