QX4 AC Fan will only blow full speed

While driving my 2002 QX4 at about 60 mph, the AC fan blower suddenly started blowing full speed. No matter what AC/HEAT controls I adjust to reduce the fan speed, it always blows full speed. In a previous thread a member had a QX4 problem with the fan not blowing at all and it turned out to be the AC fan control amplifier located behind the glove box. Following his experience, I removed the glove box and found what I think might be the part. The part I suspect is the control amplifier has 3 electrical connections into a white plastic cap that fits over a circuit board with 5 metal fins behind the circuit board.

Does anyone have any experience with this situation? Can you give me additional information on whether this might be the part?

If you do not think this is the faulty component, any suggestions?

Re: QX4 AC Fan will only blow full speed

Yes that is the part and is more than likely your problem. I had the same issue with the fan running at full speed with no way to slow it down. The part is next to the cabin filters and is as you described. I found a new one on eBay from a Nissan dealer and it is the same part number as the Pathfinder. The part # is 27761-70T03. The cost was way less than the local dealer. Note: I would replace the cabin filters per the manufacturers recommendation. I may have waited too long (10yrs) and as you can imagine they were filthy. The air flow helps cool this component and if the filters are clogged this "may" overheat the unit. (is this what made it fail?)
