Too expensive car for my current budget

Greetings everyone,
This last year has not been a good one for myself financially and I would like to see if I can get a question of mine answered, or pointed in the direction of a forum that may be able to help.
I Have a 2003 Honda civic that I pay $291 on a month for that I got in June of 2006. I can no longer afford this vehicle but I still have another 3 1/2 years of payments on the vehicle. I have never missed a payment, nor been 30 days late. I want to see if it is possible to trade down, to another vehicle, or some how get out of this car.
I checked on refinancing a few months ago, but my credit has been hit hard this last year as I have not been always able to stay up on other bills that have come my way.

Does anyone have information on how this can be done?

P.S. It would at least help if my Bank allowed me to deferr a month of payments or something so I can get things together, but the bank who gave me the loan is quite terrible. Matter of fact, during my 2nd month with them a rep told me I should try and get out of that bank as fast as possible. They are indeed the worst I have had to deal with when it comes to options for customers and customer service.

Thanks for any information, I appreciate the help.

Re: Too expensive car for my current budget

1 ) Interesting question as regards to you had good credit and now it's blemished for another lender to consider.

2 )Trading down is not the answer, as for your lender " the bank " there are several questions i would like to ask.

3 ) Your problem appears minor if all your asking for is a bit of space to get your finance's together

Tell you what, send me a private message with your contact # and best time to call, I got free calling in North America.

PS... To answer your question and many options I would be on here all day with my 2 finger typing skills
