question about an oil pan...

I have an 89 325i, and I want to know if the oil pan from an 84 528i will fit, because I was under the assumption that they both had M20 in them. Please let me know before I waste money. Thanks for your help...

Re: question about an oil pan...

some quick checking... in 1984 there was a 528e, not i.

oil pan for 1989 325i
http://oem.thepartsbin.com/parts/the...l&part=Oil+Pan

oil pan for 1984 528e
http://oem.thepartsbin.com/parts/the...l&part=Oil+Pan

Which seems to suggest that these are two different parts.
