KDX220R vs KLX300

ok, I am looking into buying a dirt bike and narrowed it down to kawasakis mostly because the XR400 is more than these 2 and is air cooled, the yamahas TTR250 is air cooled, and so is suzukis DR-Z250. both these kawasakis are water coold and I ride things HARD and I know I would get the air cooled bikes hot. now my neighbors kid has a KDX80, its an older one I know, maybe like early 90's, not really sure. but I know its NOTHING compared to a KX80. are the 2 strokes in the KDX's at least almost as potent as those in their KX motocross siblings these days? also, I would probably be doing long range rides in mexico with some guys that ride 400EX's and Raptors, they dont go full speed though so I can keep up with them on either of these I bet. but 2.6 gallons of fuel in a 4 stroke will get me farther than 2.9 gallons of mixed gas in a 2 stroke right?

the weight isnt much different, and the suspension travel is almost identical. onyl big difference I saw was the 4 stroke is an inverted fork but thaqt doesnt really make any difference does it. besides the look of it and that the inverted doesnt need the boot. I mean they both compress the same way no matter how they are mounted right? basically this is a 2vs4 debate I guess. the 4 is only 300 bucks more so thats not a big concern either.

if the KDX's have the balls that the KX's do Ill probably just go for that cuz ive ridden CR125s and XR250s and the CR125 pulls so much harder, im sure its partly from gearing though cuz the 4 strokes always sem to have a higher top speed, maybe cuz 4 strokes rev higher(or do they? I dont know)

My friends Banshee (two stroke) has a much higher top speed than my LTZ but in the trails I have the low end torque with the four stroke. Im not familiar with Kawasakis bikes.
Check out the KTM line, My buddy has a 525sx, its a workout riding his bike.

has he ever gone into the woods with you on his banshee, seems like a 350 2 stroke twin would have to pretty torquey as well.

I like the 300MXC, but where do you find out the MARP of these?

I was also thinking of the TTR230, or CRF230 but both being even less powered Illbe riding them to their limits I bet andtheir both air cooled. but the 3k and the 3200 price tags sound very nice.

Dont get me wrong the Banshee has a shitload of power but when im climbing over stumps and navigating through tight trails my power is easier to regulate, when the banshee isnt getting opened up it fouls out the plugs. usually where we ride its about 85+degrees trying to keep revs high the banshee gets extremely hot, with no cool air hitting the radiator (it has no cooling fan).

nice but kinda pricey for me, and I used a CR125 for a trail bike before and it was perfect, never stalled or fouled out or anything when creeping, but when youy get to a straightaway the fun began.

that 230 isnt gonna keep up with the raptor. 2 stroke will always pull harder than a 4 stroke. the xr 250 wil probly keep up but i think its out of your price range. i like the xr250 but im not a big fan of air cooled or offroad bikes. my friends 2002 yz125 stock will beat ltz 400 and a banshee. crf250f will smoke em all

yeah, Id love to have a crf250f or even more the 450f but those are WAY too much for me, the klx is already pretty high at 4700. I ams till considering a mid 90s YZ/KX/CR/RM 250 but I dont know if I want an older 2 stroke that I KNOW has been ridden to hell and back, I guress I could always just rebuild it, but id kinda rather start out new.

i had a 94 and i dint like it the reason i say 97 or newer is because of the frame design and the motors have a power valve so ther alot better

Ive seen some 97+'s for reasonable prices sometimes as well. I dont know what im gonna do, I got my pocket bike to play with for a while to get my 2 wheel fix again until I can afford a nice dirtbike

I live in washingotn, I went opn cycletradetr and searched YZ then cr then kx then rm and 125s and 250s and barely found any at all.
