Finnally, automotive writers side with the Yugo.
"Laugh if you must, but the Yugo was a reliable and sound enough Fiat-engineered design (provided the timing belt was changed regularly). There are 300,000 mile Yugos running around on the (somewhat fervent) North American owners' club - owned by enthusiasts, admittedly, but not necessarily mechanics.
They were in the minority of Yugo buyers, who generally purchased these cars as though buying a washing machine, neglected even the most basic maintenance (this is on record), and then complained when oil that had not been changed in years clogged their motors, when the cars overheated because their 5-year-old coolant failed to provide protection - and they abandoned these cars, blabbing to everyone who would listen that they were crap. The Yugo was, after all, inexpensive transportation. " All of you have believed the unmitagated horse dung spewed by most about the Yugo should read this article! You never hear about the Yugo in context ("The Yugo was a piece of crap... but I didn't change the oil for 15,000 miles") Read the entire article (actually about luxury cars that are dissapointing buys, mercedes, volvo, and saab included) here: the whole article

By $4000 standards, I'd say the Yugo was pretty well appointed wouldn't you? there were cars that cost thousands more and didn't have all of the features of the Yugo.
