If anyone cares...

There are only two bodies that can regulate if a vehicle is legal to market in the US: US Federal Government and the state of California. If a car is legal in the US, it's legal in Tennessee. Ferraris (most models) are sold in the US, even in California.

There are NO laws stating that cars must be slower than police cars. Since I'm pretty sure that most police cars are fairly slow, many cars sold in the US would be illegal if the "slower than police car" law existed. Corvettes, for one, can easily outrun Ford Police Interceptors by about 40 mph in the top end...and, maybe, 2-3 seconds in the quarter.
