Xenon Headlights: Are they inconsiderate to use? Are they useful?

Hello everyone,

I'm wondering whether to get the Xenon headlights. I live in the Bay Area, where everything is pretty well lit. So I probably don't need them. Plus, it seems inconsiderate to have these super-bright lights shining on other drivers.

Is there a way to enable/disable them? My impression is that once you get 'em, they're always used.

I'd love to hear what people think...

Thanks.

I live in the bay area too, the reason i got my xenon was "it looked cool!"
and besides that, it really helps when I drive in places like highway 280 at night, where it is totally dark (watch out for deers!)
all stock xenon lights are equipped with auto-leveling feature which somewhat reduces the glare for on-coming traffic
As for myself, I don't really find stock xenon lights being a problem.
What bothers me are those people who have after-market xenon and fog lights, where people use them like high-beams!

I love the Xenons on our car. I bought our car used and the first option that was mandatory that we got was Xenon's.
I saw some good cars but passed on them since they didn't have Xenon's.

We recently went on a trip, rented a car and my wife asked if I had the headlights on since we were driving a car with "regular" headlights and she didn't think I had the headlights on.

Xenon's really light up the road.
Even in the city where you think it's well lit, Xenon's will always brighten up the road for you.

disable them?
why?

Do a test drive with and without Xenon's and I believe you'll be sold on them.
As the other poster stated, it's the other after market headlamps that tend to be misaimed and blind drivers.......

Once you try them you'll never be without them. This is my first car with xenon, and I'll not be without them again. They are nothing short of great! With the auto self levelers, you never have to worry about blinding another driver. To see the full effect, drive down an un-lit road at night and you will be very impressed with the visibility. That is one great option. Go for it!

Would never buy another car without them, - they are a fantastic safety feature. Properly installed they will not bother other drivers, but will greatly improve visibility
