Nice!
Keep us updated on the manufacturing of the R34... like one pic per day.. to show your progress, that would be interesting to see.

Great! Another modeller! Welcome, welcome, welcome!!!
I actually have that exact same Skyline, but mine's white. Now if only I could get a decent set of pictures. Go find the thread called "Explain your usernames" to read the story of my silver S2000. BTW, igor, a pic a day will lead to a lot of very boring pics, at least for me. I average one step about every two weeks. Especially when painting. I just stripped all the paint back off the body of the NSX I'm working on, just because I messed up the masking on the 4th layer of paint! Now I get to start over! From those good-lookin' Skyline (and Impreza, sneaky!) pics, Guiddy spends a long time sanding and polishing. :sun: (Are you missing the left headlight lens?) |

The Subaru you have in the background i have just finshed doing myself. About to start on the Tamiya Mercedes CLK-GTR....It took me 3 months to do the CLK-GTR Sportswear one !!!.....getting to fussy. Have you guys done the Nissan R390GTi kit? (Tamiya) This is a awesome kit. I won our club champs with this one a year ago

Wow I remember the day's when I could spend months on a single project. To most people it may be hard to believe but like Silver S2K said "I average one step about every two weeks." To get it right you need to take it real slow and do it like it was a real car. Sand, buff, sand, prime, paint, etc, etc.
In the end tho you do end up with a really nice piece. I did this piece about 3 years ago. No where need what I used to do as a kid, but it's from a set my Mom picked up in Japan a few years before and I finally got around to doing it when she told me I don't appreciate anything Can't see it in the picture but the Brembo's got the bright red paint job and the dash also got a full set of painfully painted gauges. Total project time was only about 2 months.

Is that the Tamiya R32 kit?
I think I knew the hood was molded in clear plastic, but is the engine clear too? I hear the RB26DETT engine from that kit fits perfectly well in the R33 and R34 Tamiya kits, if your brave enough to saw out the hood. |

That's the one
Hood is clear but the engine was original grey plastic, I painted it black, red, chrome, white, yellow, etc. to a color I chose for each part of the engine I thought of painting the hood, but decided to keep it clear to show of the engine. The kit is also kept in a nice clear (top) case and sit's AWAY from the dog He's a big Skyline lover too so try's to sniff his seat every chance he gets BTW: Sorry for the extra JUMBO res

Thanx for the positive feedback guys!
I'll have to post some pics of my R390 this afternoon as it is awesome! It is a long long-term project as I did a full doors, hood, engine bay off jobbie with carbon fibre decals and full Rennaisance detailing and photo etching. Pics to come. The R34 has the chassis all done, I cn post some pics later too. It has a big brakes conversion and I am working on a HKS Super dragger for it! Yep, the lense was off the light in that pic, a nd the mirrro! I have sorted it now though! |

They are both gorgeous!
Is the R390 out the box, or any additions? Did you go for the decals for the pink? I managed to source the colour so sprayed mine. Unfortunately GT3 has seriously dented my kit building time, but hey, life is....er, still too short! Damn it! Oh well! I will post a pic of how the 390 looks so far, but there is a little way to go yet. Tamiya are due to release all the DTM Merc CLKs. They will be nice and inline with GT3! |

On those rally kits, do you gat a choice of tires? I'd like to see a set of 1/24 ice cleats!

Ice tyres are rare, though I am sure it has been done. Didn't Tamiya make the Repsol Escort the Swedish Rally version? That should have pretty thin wheels and tyres! You don't get a choice in the kits though, mine is the Monte Carlo version on cut slicks! |
