Re: How to remove Chrome Plating from parts

I stripped Yokomo RC chrome light buckets. They were a PITA but Castrol super clean or any strong commercial degreaser will strip chrome and the paint underneath that is used to adhere the chrome plating. That's what you really what out. It covers all the detail.

Re: How to remove Chrome Plating from parts

I use Heavy Duty EZ Off oven cleaner in the yellow can. It completely strips chrome in less than 15 minutes, it also strips the clear undercoating that is under the chrome which is an absolute must to expose the pure bare plastic. Spray it on, let it set for 15-20 minutes. Then scrub the parts under hot running water. After that, use dish soap and hot water then scrub the parts clean while rinsing and your all done.

It absolutely MUST be the yellow canned formula to work properly, the other versions of EZ Off will not work!!

for any Australians out there, available in Australia is a product called "citrus 6000" degeaser is great for this, as is any other citrus based degreaser i guess.
