Power steering pump--help
I just replaced the tensioner and serpentine belt on my van. On the way to work the ps pump pulley decided to come off the pump. Does anyone know how the pulley is attached to the shaft.. bolt, key, press fit. Is the pump itself easy to get off the van?

Re: Power steering pump--help
the pulley is usually pressed on and takes a puller to removed it. It's odd that it would come off. Is the pulley cracked??

Re: Power steering pump--help
I think you over-tightened the belt and the tensioner that it pressed the pump pulley to work overtime.

What year is your van? the PS pully on my '88 caravan is bolted on. It's not the funnest thing to work on, but not impossible either. I lay on my back behind the front passerger side tire and was able to twist and wiggle my arm up and get it done.

Re: Re: Power steering pump--help
Yes the pully was cracked and came loose from it spline fit. The tensioner was worn out causing incorrect loading on the ps pump bearing. The seal wore out lost all the oil and then the bearing failed. I have the pump loose from the van. I can't get it out of the vehical. I can't find a hole big enough to get it out. It looks like I will have to pull the half shaft.
