I absolutely agree. I am not much of a fan of red either. The other colors are definitely higher on my list, especially silver and green. However, I don't know how often I'll come across a Minichamps F1. And I want one badly so I might just pay that insane amount for the red one. That is assuming if I win and if I even bid. I am very undecided as you can tell

Uhhh no, the yellow has darkgray/gray/black interior and is quite fresh looking. NO GREEN!

Re: Re: Most paid for a McLaren model

"NO GREEN!" you say??

Maybe that one was someone's customized creation. Anyway, the only decent pictures I have of a yellow 1/12th scale interior are these, hence my bad info.

Re: Most paid for a McLaren model

I've never seen that interior in that yellow before, probably not a custom, but more like a color variation of the model, like the read driver seat in the silver 1:12.
Check youre email for the "real" version which does look alot better if I may say:-)

Re: Most paid for a McLaren model

Whoa stop for a moment, that IS a customized piece, notice the door panels don't follow the dash!
Probably made from a salvage blue or green.
The green dash should continue where the gray areas on the door is.

Yeah - I had noticed that the door panels didn't match. I wonder why someone would do a partial conversion like that? Maybe it was an error at the factory?

Here's the pics that Thorst sent over of his yellow 1/12th. The last one is clickable for a double sized image.

Re: Most paid for a McLaren model

No! Because it's Paul's model art who actually own the rights and it's a limited producton.

Re: Most paid for a McLaren model

Thought that pauls model art was minichamps and there is nothing to stop them releasing a diffrent collour or combination of exterior interior/interion colour like they have with the smaller model i have the dark blue one incidentily i have no idea what production was limited to anybody know?

Re: Most paid for a McLaren model

It all started as a a company called Paul's model art, but through the years they were restructured to Minichamps (1:43), UT(1:18) and "Paul's model art"(1:12).
The first 1:18's from "UT" also carried the Paul's model art logo.
UT is now Autoart and Paul's model art was included in the "new" Minichamps.
And they currently does not have the licence to make a 1:12 McLaren as they were limited to 2000 in each of the six colors. Some numbers suggest as low as 1799 in each color, but I think the 2000 is more likely.
They can make as many 1:43 as they wish to because a model this small requires far less attention to detail, copyrights, trademarks and approval before it hit's the marked and they still have the license to do so.
But however I don't think it's in Minichamps interest to make alot of these models so that the marked gets overflown with their McLaren models. They have a tradition of limited productions and what keeps them form making another 1000 pieces of the 1:43 WEST or 1:43 Davidoff if they were not interested in making their models special to all their loyal collectors worldwide?

I am curious as to how this auction comes with Paypal buyer protection. Hasn't this guy been caught by ebay ?

Apparently they haven't linked the scammer with that particular account. PayPal Buyer Protection is only offered when the seller has reached a certain amount/percentage of positive feedback. In that case, this one might be worth taking the chance on assuming you can get a decent deal, and then pay a little extra for the Buyer Protection.

I don't want to turn this into a "fraud" thread, but I found another fake auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6942798711

Note that the above auction has the same description AND photos as an earlier auction shown here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6940697789

You'd think the person trying to "sell" this would at least use a different user ID.
