1. paint is for temperature indication
2. still not sure about that, not there is no (big) differnce in depth on the front discs, but on the rear the difference in depth between the 3 'holes' is bigger than in front, see pics below.

Re: 21R at Modena Trackdays 2011

Hello all,

Here's two small questions I've wondered every time I see a picture of the air intake. One, what are those tubes for that enter the sides of it, I'm talking about those skinny one's, sometimes they are inserted in different locations? Second, why are they only on the GTR'S? The road car does not have them. Here's another question that just entered my mind. Why is the GTR air intake split into two halves, top and bottom? You can see the seem bolted together on the side of the intake.

Actually, here is another. What are the larger plugs for that are attached to the front of the road car intake?

Thanks!!

Re: 21R at Modena Trackdays 2011

LLMike, can you specify on which photo we can see the skinny tubes?
I don't know if you are referring to the air restrictors or smaller tubes.

Do you mean the one that is shown here entering the left hand side [as we see it] rear of the carbon box?

Is it a sensor to gauge the air volume intake for the regulations?

My guess is something to do with the regulations again that restricted the volume of air allowed in

Have you any photos of these plugs? Is it these ones at the top?

My guess is another sensor

I'm interested in all plugs, the engine picture has loads of tubes in the front of the intakes and the GTR picture has the small tube in the left rear of the intake.

The split in the air box is to gain access to the air filter, it covers the total area of the lower section. This is a one piece airbox, also used on the 96 GTR, the road cars airbox is two units bonded together with its air filter mounted ahead of the air mass meters.

The large tubes at the front are for the idle air regulators and the small pipe at the rear is a vacuum pipe.

Re: 21R at Modena Trackdays 2011

Does the road car have this vac pipe? I never see one on the rear of the intake, could it be placed elsewhere on the road car?
