trying to build a maserati mc sport - need suggestions
Hi All,
So I'm trying to put together one of my dream cars with kits of other cars but having issues trying to find similarities in parts. I know most of this will come down to casting my own parts in the end but wanted some "shortcuts here and there". I'm trying to build a Maserati GranTurismo MC Sportline coupe - http://www.maserati.com/maserati/en/...rofit-kit.html I already bought a 1/24 bburgo granturismo metal kit and will start with a resin mold but wanted to figure back up parts for it. The closest similar cars I have found are the Ferrari 599 GTB Ferrari California Jaguar XK coupe What are your suggestions of similar bodies? |

Did you tried to find some slot cars? perhaps you can find the whole body ...

excuse me for being stupid but why would a 599, California or a XK look more like a Granturismo than a Granturismo?

Re: trying to build a maserati mc sport - need suggestions
using them for parts. my resin skills are not the best so i'm trying to get the closest form to a body. Turismo's are only made in 1/24 diecast and the mold itself is pretty poor. So looking at the closest competitors the California, 599 or the Jag were the closest i could think of to the shape of the body. It's all going to be putty, slicing and molding....but molding metal is not my specialty. That's all. Just wanted to inquire what others could suggest.

if you find the original diecast a little rough (or more likely soft in detail) then you're better off fixing them before you do your first cast.
re-scribe panel lines to make them more defined and deeper and sharper. apply putty to the soft edges so you can reshape them correctly. Alternatively, it might be easier to make a resin copy of the die-cast body first, then fix the resin copy as it's easier to work with, so you can re-cast it again.

There are no plastic kits that will get you there. Size-wise, it's closest to a 612 Scaglietti, but the platform is closer to the California...supposedly.
Mondo Motors made a better 1/24 diecast Gran Turismo model than Burago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAV5EUqcDc8
