99' altezza power loss problems
I have a 1999 toyota altezza.
the car will start and idle but sputters during idle the car dosnot have enough power to move and if you give it gas it stumbles. i've taken it into the shop and they replaced the MAF and the Throttle body assy because those were the 2 error code provied from the ECU. below is the shop's out line of the problem does any one have any further ideas on what else could cause this issue. as the dealership is lost. Regards Kevin Wall 1999 Toyota Altezza 3S-GE motor Vehicle has no power and check engine light is on. Perform diag test and retrieve codes P1125 and P1128. Replaced mass airflow meter, four plugs and air filter. Perform compression test, all readings good. Fuel pulse and spark very weak. Replaced throttle body assy, still no change. No low down response, constant bogging will begin to rev clear high up in rpm above 5500. |

Re: 99' altezza power loss problems
My 98 Altezza RS200 had the same problem about 2 months ago, but the check engine light didn't come on. My problem was that one of the Heating Coil Packs (one sits on top of each spark plug) had gone out, so only 3 out of the 4 cylinders were firing. I had all 4 Coil Packs replaced (since they all tend to have the same life expectancy) and spark plugs replaced with brand new Iridium plugs. Total cost, including labor, was about $810.
Each Coil Pack was about $165 and the Spark Plugs (Iridium) were about $18 each. Hope this helps |
