i have a 1990 3000zx 2+2

well, i went with the VG30DETT after some hard contemplating. i figure it this way....i would have went with the VQ30DETT but it wasnt made in america, so finding even the most easiest replacement part would be a huge pain in the ass. same with the rb26dett...

the only other swap i might consider was the VH45DE(TT) as i have heard good things from many people, zgringo primarily. but then again, i took the VG over the VH do to that fact of keeping it original with the VG. the VH is probably better for more power but like i said, the most HP i want is 550rwhp, and the VG can serve that purpose rather well and efficient. hence me doing a VG30DETT swap instead of any others!!!

come one guys, give us some good reasons why you chose the engine you chose!!!!

BTW: Jorge, nice thread but what was your choice?!?!?!

Re: ULTIMATE ENGINE SWAP ver.2!!!

Id have to go with the VH over the VG. If you want a VGtt buy a TTZ32 . But the swap i would go with the VH witha supercharger

i have a 1986 300zx 2-seater

for this car it is between the rb series engines...if i wanted tremendous power, of course i will go with the rb26 but if i wanted just moderate power i would go with the rb20...so after some more contemplating i would go with the RB20DET because of the fact i probably would never want more than 400whp out of it because i want it as a daily driver. RB20DET can take care of 400whp on stock internals...so i mgiht as well save the extra cash from the RB26 and put it in to making more power with the RB20...

there ya go, both my Z's!!!

Re: ULTIMATE ENGINE SWAP ver.2!!!

I thought long and hard about the VK56 swap.... but then after picking on my boss today at work, he has a Maruader thats pretty beefed up, I decided to stay with the V6 plant. But I am going to try and do the VQ30DE swap, and build up that engine and keep it NA. Then after that the project shifts towards fixing up my truck.

Re: ULTIMATE ENGINE SWAP ver.2!!!

i have a '93 300zx

like hodo said, i would want to stick with a v-6. and like k3 said, i won't want more than 500 hp out of it since i want it still streetable. a vq would be nice, but i would rather have the vg. so my choice would be the vg30dett.

Re: ULTIMATE ENGINE SWAP ver.2!!!

VH45DE comes out of a President/Cima/Q45 and the VK56DE comes out of the Titan... both V8's...

Re: ULTIMATE ENGINE SWAP ver.2!!!

if i were to swap an engine into my current car, i'd definitely say rb20det... 200zr conversions are sick! it's probably the easiest swap to do and it's pretty easy to make some fairly decent hp numbers.

if i were to go for an all out drag car, i'd probably drop a 350 with a custom t/c system into a 240z...

if i were going for the all out all around car i'd probably just hook up a zxtt and mod the living bejesus out of it... that's my dream at least...
