Evos kick serious ass, but the Skyline is just on a different level. If someone gave me a skyline, I'd go out and smoke some riceboy hondas, then sell it and buy a fleet of EVOs!

Re: Jap Cars
The original poll is a no-brainer for me: Skyline. Period. Next tough question?
However, your follow-up five-car poll requires substantially more thought on my part: Quote:
1) Skyline or Supra* 2) NSX 3) RX-7 4) Evo VI I like the Skyline and the Supra for their enormous power potentials and great engineering approaches with power upgrading built in with every nut and bolt. Being a Honda fanatic, I love the NSX, with it’s outstanding design (still the best production car ever made in Japan in my book), but it was not built to be a power monster the way the Supra and Skyline were, even though it is highly capable in this regard. The RX-7 is also awesome, but it loses points because as cool as the Wenkel rotary engine may be, it is complex and presents lots of unknown problems as an unconventional internal combustion engine. As for the Evo VI, such a great car, but it just doesn’t get it done for me as well as any of the others in this comparison. *Toss up, as both cars are very similar and represent enormous power potential – I’d have to do more research as to which has more possibilities to work with before making a final choice as to which I’d prefer. In terms of what I know, I’ll take the Supra. But I don’t know nearly as much about the Skyline, as it is not a US domestic car. If I knew more about it, I might very well take a Skyline over a Supra. Whichever loses out between these two drops to my second place choice, and the other cars fall back accordingly as well. |

Lexington, Kentucky? Oh sure.. I'll be there in... I dunno, 20 to 30 hours. Hey, I've got next week off, what else have a got to do?
Ha ha, maybe next time man. I am a fan of sedans, and I know there are at least some Skyline models available with four doors. Can't figure out why so many are opposed to sports cars with four doors... I guess they think it detracts from a car's purity as a "sports car," but dammit, the world needs a little more practicality here and there. |

The thing is...
I can't really decide. The GT-R is my first love, definitely. I guess that's the case since I hadn't even learned about the Lancer until about 4 years later.lol It's the real "King of the Japanese Sports cars."
Look at the Lan Evo as the guy trying to usurp the throne. With the same power, a comparable awd system, all with less weight, the Lancer can definitely give a GT-R a run for it's money. For on road tossability, it's lighter weight and smaller size gives it the advantage. But even when tuned, it can't keep up with a tuned GT-R on the top end. In the end, I choose both: The Evo as my weekend, unwinding, 'leave the world behind' car. The GT-R would be my sleek(relatively ), 'brute in a suit' everyday car. And it'd definitely be my dating ride. Jackie Chan drives Lan Evos and doesn't get any chicks, but I bet James Bond could use a GT-R and still pull in the ladies.

God Damn!
Damnnnn this Thread has been so developed... I like what Violinandy said, that has given me a smile on my face. Like i said, The R33 looks more appealing, but the R34 shouldnt be under-estimated, either should the Evo VI. Once those they are tuned, they can kick some Ass. |

I like the Skyline better. I do concede that the Evo VI is hot shizz-nit, though.

I find that the other way around...
I like the EVO VI better, but the GT-R is a bloody big beast. |

When it comes to raw performance and modifications, Skylines are they way to go. However, if you were to buy an EVO6, leave it alone!
it's already 100% balanced.... don't do any performance upgrades. Skylines reach 1000bhp easy, nismo style, but it's a bloody flying coffin... no point having so much power but can't take a corner.... so it's really how you want to loook at it... if both were taken stock, EVO all the way!! MWahahhaa |
