which Z would you pick z32tt vs 350z

just trying to get something going!

I previously owned a 350z performance model. it was good, i drove it hard and it look damn good been new(wife got pregnat and got sold it). but when i really tought about it, the 350z look like it had a cheap interior. know that i owned a 96 300zxtt, been an older model it looks better like your really getting your moneys worth.
just wondering if the new Z is gonna hold it value cause if you asked me i would say no!!

I'd take the Z32TT but trade it in for a different year.

Re: which Z would you pick z32tt vs 350z

the reason the 300zx has a better interior is because the z32 is, what is the word i am looking for, lets say more of a GT car than the z33. nissan went back to the basics of a sports car with the 350z (notice the loss of the x). z cars are more for sports car and zx cars are a little bit luxury too.

and if you would want a different year because of the myth with '96 losing 15 hp, it is that, a myth.

Re: which Z would you pick z32tt vs 350z

well i heard the same thing that the 96 model lost 15hp do to emissions in 96. i bought the car not knowing but the car is fast the way it is 300hp or 285hp. i think the torque stay the same way for all years. not only that i got the last year model which i heard that only 300 were made which stands for 300zx
yes the only reason i bought a 350z was cause i talk down the prize from $29,999 to $23,500 it was the end of the month and they have to meet their quote.
back to the 32zxtt. i like the car alot better. i just cant believe that the car was so expensive new. when i bought my z32tt i was given the original window msrp sticker and it show $45000+ . thats probably why nissan didn't make the 350z tt cause the prize would of been to high.

Everything I've heard and read indicates it was a lower output. They did away with the variable cam timing due to emissions troubles. I've never dynoed a stock 96 TT 5spd but I didn't see any variable cam timing bits in the 96 FSM and just about everyone else, including Nissan techs, agree that the 96s lost a bit. I'm inclined to believe it.

Anyway, Z32s are really meant to be twin turbos. No offense to any NA guys out there but they are just set up to be turbo cars. And given their level of performance overall, they are really over kill and just plain wasted for daily driving duties. The original Datsun Zs were all about affordable daily driving fun. The 240SX (or rather the 180SX with the SR20, I like the KA but its not for acceleration) was better suited to this role while the Z32 filled in the luxo-high performance slot with the GT-R the more track focused model.

The Z33 is more of the daily driver, especially a loaded up base model or touring setup. I know this is going to cause problems, but the "track" tuned Z33 is more cosmetic then performance. Really, go drive one, they handle great and the power is there but its just not up to what a moderately tuned Z32 TT can do.

As a daily driver I would take a base Z33. But since I wanted a high performance sports car, I bought a Z32 TT.

Re: which Z would you pick z32tt vs 350z

you get alot more buying a use z32tt. its afordable, looks good(better then the new Z), has more power and its easer to get power out of it since its turbocharged. its a true sports car. the 350z looks sporty but lacks the power.
whats the point of having a predecessor with less power and cheaper interior. i tought the 350z should of been a way better car than the 32zxtt but is not!

i am pretty sure that the 300 in 300zx stands for 3.0L displacement. just like 240sx is 2.4L and the 350Z is 3.5L.

I drove my buddies 350z... didn't like the feel of the clutch...

Would rather have my 240z... I know it's not an option in this thread... but I'd rather go back to the real basics.

Thats because those ones are usually some 10k mile hardly driven car with the sticker still in the window or uber-modded to the point of 700hp.

For Example

Re: which Z would you pick z32tt vs 350z

my freind has a '96 TT and he dynoed his stock and got 2-3 less hp than a stock i think it was '94 TT. the peak horsepower is the same, but the dyno charts looked a lot different. the '96 makes the 300 hp in a different way than the '90-'95 years. but it still has the same peak horsepower.

anyways, it was amazing when i found out how much a z32 cost when it came out. a n/a cost the same as a base 350z. so supposedly in that aspect they improved, but i still rather have a z32 n/a than a z33.

does any body knows how many z32 were really made in 96?

maybe the z32tt that have less power are the ones register in california since the emissions regulations are more strick but thats just a tought.

i also read in R & T that nissan is coming out with another 350 model. http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....&page_number=1

Re: which Z would you pick z32tt vs 350z

I haven't had the opportunity to drive a 350Z... they look nice and I would not mind having one! I drive an NA (as most of you know) and love it... I have big plans with her. I have always wanted a Z32 TT and maybe someday I will own one. However, the various Supercharger kits coming out for the Z33 make it pretty hard to choose!

I'll have both please... I'm greedy!

that road and track article is referring to the 350Z that was tuned by nismo offered to japan for their road racing over there. (something about the different classes and options.) they made a body kit and and wing for the 350z to make it longer causing more downforce. also it was tuned by nismo with many nismo parts, but it is not that more powerful. just has the power when you need it for that type of racing.

all the 96's supposedly loss 20hp with the OBDII computer to pass the new emissions code. i really dont think that should steer a person away from buying a 96'. still the same engine and is just as powerful as the other years. most people plan to upgrade the computer anyways. so you can always get that 20hp back.
