yeah, I wonder. And what about the styling cues? what will be different about the c6 from the c5 in the body? All the "spy shots" ive seen look pretty much the same. Maybe thats because all the cars have full covers on them.

serious some of the "concepts" ive seen are ugly as hell and some look real good i just really dont like the design (in red) that was on the front of i think motor trend, it is ugly it looks like every other car of its time. i hope the keep it like the c5 but change some aspects of it. they have aready designed a beautiful car now they can update the design and it will be perfect. and as for performance wise who the hell knows. all that im sure of is that the chassis is on the caddi xlr.

.
There is a big emphasis on it having fixed headlights but nothing has been confirmed, personally I don't like that idea.

All of the following information is stuff that I have heard directly from the G.M. Vice President and Dave Hill, the Corvette Chief engineer. I was at a Corvette Convention and they were there speaking...I heard it with my own two ears
-6+Liter V8 making 500hp -fixed headlights -hydroformed aluminum frame rails -target weight for the base coupe is around 3100lbs -1.1Gs of lateral acceleration I recently read an interview with Bob Lutz where he said that the new vette would be a BETTER performer than the Viper and the Ford GT. This sort of erased any suspicions I had about what the VP and Hill had said. The only thing is that I don't know if the power and performance estimates were for the base car or the Z06...I'm guessing Z06. |

Fixed headlights and 500+ hp
There was a picture in the November 2003 Car and Driver (page 34 if you want to look it up) of the new C6's headlamps shown at an industry conference where Gary Cowger (president of GM North America) was speaking, and they're definately fixed. To me they strike a resemblance to current Ferrari styling, which is fine with me. (They'll obviously reduce the nighttime drag coefficient, too, over the last many generations of the 'Vette.)
As for power estimates, everywhere that I've seen anything about the C6, GM has said it's going to be in the 500-hp range. I think that's actually going to be the base model engine, because Cadillac wants to build a 700+hp STS sometime in the next few years. GM company policy, however, is that no GM production car out-muscles the Corvette, so if Cadillac is really serious about a 700 hp descendant of the Seville, then GM must also be serious about a stock 'Vette with over 700 ponies . Wow. That would definately out-gun the Viper and the GT. (Especially if they made it AWD...) |

Re: Fixed headlights and 500+ hp
NO AWD vette!
I've heard or read that a 427 may be available as an option to the Z06 |

Have any of you guys heard of the variable valve timming being incorporated into the C6? I was just curious if that is actually going to happen. I've seen hp quotes for 425hp in motortrend and it would make sense to be pushing that with vvt (verses the older setup). That also brings me to the my next question. Could this possibly mean that the new corvette is in design for a ohc engine? You could still do variable valve timming with a ohv, but it requires a lot more tunning than an ohc engine. What do you guys think?
