Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

That would probly be your heater hoses down in that area.
It can leak inside sometimes then you would smell it when the vents are on.

I watched several of those vids.
Thier was one with a GA turbo and he only did 14. ?? in a quarter But he won, might have been against the Mustang...
Any way they werent all that fast.
Sounds like I need to go up to Michigan and get me some quarter times.

so maybe leaking inside but out? lol

the majority of it is coming outside, I just noticed a orange stain last night after I had found that spot.... kinda thought... well that just figures lol

still concerned about my engine oil level, its either really full or what... shouldnt it go only to about an inch?

I prob shouldnt worry to much, I need to get it changed here soon

besides, I would think the engine would of locked up long ago if there was coolant in there

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Who Knows
If any coolant has leaked into the oil then it will raise the level.

Changing the subject for a minute here.
I never did tell you guys what I ended up doing to the dome light project
After great thought, and cutting up 12+ old disc's I deceided to wait and get some plexiglass.
The CDs just kept cracking and I was tired of cuting the damn things

But I did put 2 up there, its pretty brite, here is a pic.

I just cut a plastic piece long enough to fit in where the bulb goes and drilled the 2 holes for the Leds, which already had resistors soldered to them.

I'm working on soldering a resistor in the other map light(s) for the rear so I can use a couple LEDs.

is this off topic or what

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

gir: have you checked your oil... is it looking anything like some creamy coffee? It's strange though that it is high... never really hear that happening. Hopefully it's not leaking into the engine... but i would say I doubt it the car would have fried by now.

Actually I saw an Olds Achieva this morning... definet head gasket leak... There was a white cloud coming out from the exhaust plus white smoke coming out from under the hood wheel well area. It's a matter of time before that car is gonna take a dump on the road.

XI: I haven't seen the dome light since you last spoke of is with the CD's. It looks good though! Very Impressed!

Well I'm better get back to work.... well, it's slow today( for me) so maybe some mindless entertainment just for me...

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Sucks!
Bad storms/big hail forecasted for tonight so I decide to park the Olds in the shop. I charge the battery for a coupla hours while I go out to eat, come back crank it up and its missn real bad. Rev it a few times to clean it out but it still misses. The hood is still up so I have look on the drivers side, dont see anything. Look on the passenger side and its a regular light show. I shut it down and get a flashlight and find 4 and a half plug wires chewed through along with slight damage to other electrical and a vacuume hose. (Hope they had fun with the braided steel lines) Thats just what I can see. Plug wires were ACs and less then 100 miles on them (car is not driven much). Damn field mice!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Hey Gir, I wouldnt put off the leak to much. The hotter is gets outside the more pressure will biuld and it'll leak more & more.

Ya Jim mice like the taste of silcone.
Some wires (I've heard) use a Soy based resin in them, they realy love Soy.

Back a few years ago a wire company that makes romex(house wiring) and the casing was a Soy based plastic.
I guess several hunderd homes burnt down because the mice exposed several wires causing a short

I bet that was a big lawsuit.

Hail That stuff sucks bad.
Unless you want your car to look like a golfball
We are supposed to get freezing rain tomarrow and turn to snow, Oh JOY!
Looks like I'll be bussy as hell if it does

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Ok, here goes the weather again. Was in the 40's - 50's for about 2 days, now its back down to 20's. All the snow basically melted but now we are supposed to get this huge snow storm here and they said the snow was supposed to start friday night (tonight, even though its saturday morning) and go all through sunday. We are supposed to get about a foot. Snow has gottin here so I dont know what is gonna happen anymore. Minnesota sucks but there isnt anything like the summers here, to me anyways. Way to nice in the summer.

I agree with XI, don't take too long to fix this especially since it's getting warmer... this is where ppl, end up overheating there cars. Out of curiosity, how much do apartments go for down there? Just want to see how bad we are getting raped up here.

Grandamdriver: the weather is no better out here on the east cost. We got the 2 nice days of 40 almost 50 degree weather, then it dropped, last night it was 15 degrees... Plus i want to wash the ccar SOOOO bad, and we are supposed to get a wintery mix for sunday into monday ( probably your leftovers) I am looking forward to the summer time! I maybe taking a vacation down to Puerto Rico again! Nothing like sitting on a beach in the caribbean!!

Field mice SUCK! I would go crazy if i found somehting like that on my G/a... let alone a classic!

Re: Grand Am Off Topic Thread

Ya Gir I wanted to go see that last night but had other things I needed to get done. I want to see Ghost Rider too.

I have the entire collection of comics from the 70's of Ghost Rider Wasnt worth much before, but now its going to be worth alot

On the weather front, we had 40-50s last week. Still have frozen mountains of icy snow(great ramps though). Its been sleeting here for about 1/2hr now. I'd rather have snow then freezing rain.
Heres my local weather map.

Its almost here
