why so expensive?
i'm not saying they are bad cars or anything, but can someone explain to me why s7 is so expensive? this is strictly from a curious viewpoint, so i don't want any responses yellin at me, or people gettin in fights in here like what happens in every other thread. it just doesn't make sense to me that it makes less hp then murcielago, costs more, and no abs (which isn't necessary, but it did get beat in the 0-100-0. if not abs, put on bigger brakes or something)
any ideas? or better yet, any facts? |

Re: why so expensive?
Why...
A.The murceilago isn't all carbon fiber... B.The murceilago is 3650lbs and the S7 is 2650 lbs... C.The Lambo is an exotic and not a supercar... D.The S7 doesn't come with Abs because it is a drivers car not some rich guys car as the lambo is... E.The S7 base is 375k for a 550 hp car that destroys the lambo in track time. For 400k there is a 580 hp model and for 550k there is the TT which still weighs less at 2950lbs and makes 750 hp. N/a S7 01 - 550hp 575lb-ft - 375k base N/a S7 04 - 575hp 580lb-ft - 375-400k base N/a S7 02 comp - 680hp 650lb-ft - 450k base Turbo S7 TT 05 - 750hp 700lb-ft - 550k+ base Turbo S7 TT 06 - 1000hp 850+lb-ft - 630k+ base S7's redline 8500 the murceilago a meaty 7500... Murcielago's stats... 580 bhp @ 7500 rpm 480 lb-ft @ 5400 rpm Simple explaination... Track performance is much more expensive then strait line performance. The S7 is a supercar the Lambo is a rich boys toy...

Isn't the 2006 model still available with 750 hp?
The Saleen S7 has beryllium exhaust valve seats, but I can't find any information if the Lamborghini Murcielago has them. The Saleen S7 uses the same steering rack as the S7R. Road & Track September 2005 0-60 mph: 3.4 seconds 0-100: 6.3 0-150: 12.1 0-200: 23.4 100-150: 5.7 100-200: 17.1 1/4 mile: 10.8 seconds at 138.7 mph 1/2 mile: 16.5 at 171.8 3/4 mile: 21.4 at 193 Full mile: 25.9 at 205.7 $555,000 2,950 pounds 3.9 pounds per hp "This is a race car for the street, and it it's able to pull redline in top gear, Saleen says the S7 is capable of hitting 235 mph." For comparison, a Lamborghini Murcielago in the same test. 0-60 mph: 4.0 seconds 0-100: 9.6 0-150: 21.3 100-150: 11.7 1/4 mile: 12.6 seconds at 118.4 mph 1/2 mile: 19.4 at 144 3/4 mile: 25.4 at 157.2 Full mile: 30.9 at 168 $279,000 4,020 pounds 6.9 pounds per hp |

Re: why so expensive?
I think I seen one of these on the way home from work lastnight. It was going the opposite direction of me but I am 99 percent sure it was an S7. I know no pic=no proof though, but until then I have only seen them on the Discovery channel and bruce almighty.
