Check out Endyn for beefier rods and pistons, Ive heard lots of good things about the quality of those parts. (website: www.theoldone.com ) They also have application specific parts; Forced induction or Naturally aspirated. So choose wisely according to what you are planning to do with your engine.
Also, you may want to look into the Classified section of this forum, I believe 13secondCivic was selling some Endyn (Eagle) rods. **Oh, just one more thing, these Endyn rods are so beefed up, you will have to notch your block for them to fit. |

how much boost are you planning to run....my friend ran around for a while with a stock bottom d15 with 10 lbs of boost and an intercooler with no problems....the d15 is higher compression than d16 so you really shouldn't have too much problem if you make sure to have plenty of fueland aren't detonating

I'm shooting for anywhere from 12 to 16 psi, then raising the boost as I gain confidence in the setup. A lot of things are still undecided as the only part of the turbo i've aquired so far is the actual turbo (T-25). All the other parts will sort of depend on availability.

you're gonna be boosting 12-16psi on a t-25? That's overkill for that turbo...get a bigger turbo

correct me if i'm wrong but the stock eclipse runs 12 psi with the T-25, i probably wouldn't run higher than that. This is my only car so i'm not trying to blow the motor, that's why i'm purchasing another d16a6 to build up bulletproof so running 12psi intercooled won't make it break a sweat.

true but the dsm guys have a bigger motor to feed, while the t-25 might be a scant small for a 2liter it's just right for a 1.6 in my book.

The usual setup I do for a D-series would be:
Eagle rods, JE or ARIAS pistons, new oil pump, new bearings, new rings. This is your basic build up that would be good for up to 12-15 lbs of boost. I would suggest sleeving it for safer boosts at 15lbs or so. The basic setup is about $1400 and with sleeves at about $2200. Wil www.exospeed.com |

what c/r do you figure my goal should be? which pistons will lower my c/r to the desired level?

Oh the prices I put up are estimate of course. They include the block, the crank work, assembly, honing, machining, balancing, bearings, oil pump, new oil pan gasket, piston, rods, rings. It’s a complete rebuild.
I think it’s a pretty reasonable estimate. Its just not pistons and rods and a $100 labor job for machining and assembly. People who charge less than this are half assing it and I doubt are doing a complete race quality setup. PFCFutrell: Compression ratio depends on how much boost your planning to do. If your planning on boosting high in the 12-15 lbs range. I would do the most at 9:1 CR. You can go lower like 8.5:1 also. I personally like to keep the CR high with a decent amount of boost. On the DOHC motors, I built them at 10:1 CR with 12 lbs of boost. Just have to have a good fuel management setup though. There are even higher compression setups. JG engine Dynamics used to build some of their racecars with high comrpression, high boost. They had the “Speedball CRX/Andrew Yang” single cam turbo setup at 11:1 compression doing low 10s. But for street driving, keep it conservative, something that you can have fun with and will last you a long time. Wil www.exospeed.com |
