99 ram van blower problem
Blower motor only runs on high speed. Replaced the resistor pack but did not solve the problem. With the resistor pack removed and ignition switch on, 12.4 volts from green/white stripe wire. There are 2 of these wires although the wiring diagram shows one should be light blue.
I'm assuming the 12.4 volts is coming from the blower motor and then to the fan switch on the "other" green/white stripe on my vehicle which is shown as light blue on the wiring diagram. The Dodge "backward" voltage flow. With the fan switch on high I get 0.15 volts on the gr/wt wire (got 12.4 when I set the fan switch on 1,2 or 3 speed which is probably OK). THEN: Jump gr/wt to tan and low fan runs at 2.4 volts. Jump gr/wt to other gr/wt and medium 1 fan runs, again at 2.4 volts. Jump gr/wt to light blue and no fan at medium 2 with 12.4 volts Either relay 1, relay 2 or fan switch? Anyone know how to rest the relays? thanks in advance |

Re: 99 ram van blower problem
There is only the high speed relay, the rest of the circuitry runs through the speed selector switch. Perhaps the switch is no good.

Re: 99 ram van blower problem
Pulled the fan switch today and tried to do some more diagnostics. After about an hour I decided to plug the connector back into the switch and put in the new resistor pack that didn't solve the problem in the first place.... and what do you know! It worked.
It was very difficult to get the connector off of the switch so all I can figure is that the terminals were corroded. Don't you just hate it when you think you have one problem and it turns out to be 2. And not only that, they are in "series"! |
