426 Hemi?
Hello, there is a muscle car restorer that lives close by and he has 2 426 Hemi motors, one for a 68 Charger and a 69 from some other kind of car. Not sure which one he is selling but they are both rated at 425hp. They are all orginial, need to be rebuilt. He is asking $8000 Canadian for one of them, does anybody know how much one of these would be worth in US Dollars?
Thank you, Chris |

Re: 426 Hemi?
Probably around that same dollar figure, but in American funds. These engines have become hard to find.
You could probably buy one from him for the 8k CDN and sell it for the same amount or more in the American funds, I'm inclined to believe. I'm sure you'd profit from it.

Re: 426 Hemi?
A good condition 426 HEMI is worth 15k American. I don't know the exchange rate, but this sounds like on hell of a deal! Also, they may be RATED at 425, but, in reality, they have alot more.

Re: 426 Hemi?
A NEW "street hemi" from Chrysler s readily available for about $13K, US. With that in mind, only a restoraton should pay big bucks for the old hemi, and only then, if it is EXACTLY (codes) what is called for in the resto.

426 hemi
a brand new hemi 426 from a company would be 11500 US to 13000 US
but considering it to be used and in need of work easily take it down 3 or 4 thousand dollars 8000 US to 10000 US and that is only after it has been looked at and discussed like what ist is going to need done to it so good deal maybe but be careful with used motors and check to verify engine numbers might not even be hemi motors |

Re: 426 Hemi?
yeah, i read someone that this guy who had the worlds faster land car in the 70's had 4 426's. the only modified part of it, was mechanical fuel injection, and guess what...4 of those buggers made 3000hp..that means 750 a piece with little mods...awesome huh>?
