Thanks Jeep.
So here's the latest fellas. Since you can copy channels from one file to another I brought my Bus channels over one at a time. It was important to cut overlap areas out which you can do by ctrl+click on a channel and then select the other channel and delete. I did this for both greys, both blues, and the black that made up the Bus. see? Here's a closer look. Now I may go and fill the thin stripe back through the window on the bus and there's some little things but for the most part it's in and time for the Bug. -Lemorris

Re: learning new method
Very nice so far! The chrome on the bus and the reflections on the Ghia are great. I should have noticed this earlier, but isn't the front tyre of the Ghia a bit shiny?

Re: learning new method
it may be a tad...when I'm near the end I'll check it out. I'm counting on 7-10% dot gain which is normal on shirts. Basically when the ink goes through the hole it spreads slightly larger than the hole. I try to compensate for that but in this case I may add some dark grey.
Oh yeah this design is 8 colors only. Lt. Blue, Dark Blue, Lt. Grey, Dark Grey, Chrome Yellow, Burnt Orange, and Black. The Bug is going to be grey and the notchback will be Orange. More tonight.

The Bug will be made mostly of the light grey and the dark grey. It's position in the design is the upper right under the end of the text and the mountain picture. Since I am limited to only 8 colors I had to think it through. I figure grey is a common enough old VW color and around the blue it should pop pretty well. Ineed to keep the stripes on the left grey and the car would get lost against that side. The stripes are representative of the EMPI (vw parts company) stripes and they hold a special meaning for VW folk.
That's part of the challenge with shirt work. You can use more costly methods to get unlimited colors but most clients don't have unlimitied budgets. Here's the latest on the Bug. Almost done. I'll go back in and polish in a bit. There's some areas I'm if-y on but It's better to determine that after the render is complete. Oh on a side note I just got another job that will be shirts with a 87 Grand National, a 89 Firebird, and a 68 Camaro in cartoon style. I'll be drawing the cars by hand then render the color separations in Photoshop. Should be fun. -Lemorris

Re: learning new method
Sweet...a 87 Firebird, a 1968 Camaro, I'll be keeping an eye out for that one.

Here's the Bug. There's a couple tiny spots, but it's ready at this point to be integrated.

so I started on the final car which was the first one I did in Illustrator.
It's called a Notchback. I dropped the unfinished version in the design just to get a feel for it. It's color is 100% of the shadow color in the Ghia with red blended in. Once again there are only 8 individual colors in this design. Here's the Notch a little closer. almost done!
