97 steering strange
1997 K1500 4X4 LT 350 'burb with 133000 mi. My 97 has problem when turning mostly left but also right and it is more noticeable above 30mph. It acts like it over boosts the steering and I have to correct back to keep the same steering line as the steering wheel turns in more with out any more input from me. Thanks Kasey

Kasey: If your Sub has variable assist steering, try disconnecting the electrical plug to the power steering pump. If the steering burp goes away it is not a mechanical problem. If that's the case then refer to the post's for "Steering Problem on 99 Suburban" by "diehard_dude". Good Luck............777Stickman

I had the same problem with my 97 burb. 97 burbs have speed sensitive steering. replace the sensor under the dash on the steering shaft. about 60 bucks at dealer. its called a steering position sensor.

Thanks vrathod73 the steering position sensor did the job, not an uncommon problem for the '97 and it's an easy fix. Kasey
